Choices
This morning on the AM news program the life feature was at a rodeo arena. They were highlighting little boys riding mini bulls. (Link to news story) Now, I was raised around rodeos and horse racing, and this was interesting (and entertaining). Little boys always want to do what big boys do. But it got me thinking about choices. Choice we make as kids, as adults. How these choices shape us and our futures. These little guys are having a good time right now, and who knows one could grow up to be a world famous bull rider. One could end up paralyzed. One could be an accountant. One could be a doctor who chose that profession because it was his friend who was paralyzed. The world is their oyster.
One thing about choice, and I keep reinforcing this to my kids as they get older, we make choices based on what we know now. And those choices when reflected on later can easily get us in a tailspin with 'what ifs'. We can spend all our days pondering, what if that, or what if this, what if I had, what if I hadn't....
Make the best choices you can now, or the choices you want if you understand the consequences of the choice. Consequences always come, good and bad. And live the kurfuffle that we call life. Today you might be riding bulls, tomorrow you might be on top of the world, and next week you might have an earthquake pull that earth out from under you. Keep moving forward. Never say what if, say what now.
