Car show, knitting, and baby birds everywhere!

Okay, so I was going to post more to this, and so far so good.  But still about a month apart.

It's been a month of cleaning, knitting, and listening to Mike about his car.  He keeps talking about getting it ready for a show... but there's always something.  I printed out the registration for the 25th Street Car show and mailed it.  She's made her maiden voyage! Purty, ain't she?

Friday at the show was hot, hot, hot!  The heat just sucks the energy out of you.  Mike and I were lazy slugs all day Saturday because we were so tired.  We were there for about 8 hours and didn't get home until after 10pm.

It is now early summer and the babies are everywhere!  There was a starling that fell out of it's nest, which is inside the light pole.  Now starlings are a menace and everywhere, but I saved the thing anyhow with the help of a co-worker who was out for a walk too.  The thing kept hopping around the base of the light and looking up at the nest.  One of the parents flew down to the nest and kept looking at the baby then at the nest with something in it's mouth.  Like get up here and eat!

I was trying to get pics of some noisy juvenile magpies in their nest.  They kept ducking an dodging so I didn't get a good photo.  But this young robin flew down in the crick of a tree right next to them.  Kept looking at me like, 'Take my photo!  Come on, take my photo!  Is this my best side, is this it?'  But it appeared the bird wasn't going anywhere until I took it's photo.  I finally took a few and it kind of looked me up and down and then flew to the ground.

There are 7 turtles we've counted so far and this is the first time I got photos of them.  Every time I have gone out, as I walked to the grass and got out my camera, PLOP, I'd hear them slip into the water.

Ducks relaxing, American Avocets, a whole island of 'em, and Mama Duck and her babies  And a Blue Heron.  It was a good day to walk around the building.

A nest of 4 baby robins!  How they fit in there, and the wind hasn't knocked them out I'll never know.  This tree is right on the main sidewalk into work.

I got my first sweater done!  Sweaters and socks intimidate me to knit.  I have avoided even attempting them since I learned to knit.  With new grandsons and a fabulous pattern from tincanknits.com  called Gramps I could not resist trying.  I love this pattern.  I'm thinking I will make 2 more this fall..  (I made this one and my friend made another.  She thought it looked fun and didn't have any babies to make for.)   Done just in time for it to get to hot to use.  Of course, pppbbffftttt.

Not a bad month.  One bad thing this month.  Chiller stopped broadcasting Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me.  Bummer.  At least they are both on Amazon.  And there's always the option of going outside and not sitting like a slug and watching TV.

Speaking of being a slug, I downloaded the first app I thought might actually encourage me to get up and go.  We've had a hot snap and I've got to get the dogs out early, like 6am, to avoid the heat.  I hate getting up.  I'm every cliche you've ever heard of about getting up.  Zombies Run 5K training was only $1.99, so I figure low risk for the benefit.  Considering I haven't walked hardly at all since November.  Here's the promo video from YouTube.   I did the intro and now I'm interested.  Hopefully enough to get my carcass up out of bed every other day to complete the training schedule.  By then I hope the full app will be available for my device.

I've not got any further on the night stand.  I need to pick a color and go for it.  Grey with black in the middle.  This weekend.  And blankets I've had cut out for a month.

I doodle endlessly.  I wish I had pursued art when I was younger.  I think I would have enjoyed being a color artist or a line artist for comics.  Here's a self portrait from my journal about a month ago.  I'm trying to put one with my journal entries that reflect the day.  Some are good, some not so much.
