Time just keeps on slippin, into the future.
Lots of photos to post, no time to post them now.
We had no rain in Utah for the entire month of June, none, nada, zip, zero, and it got HOT. We were over 100 degrees, wowza. Makes me so uncomfortable.
July half one went smooth, no much to write about.
July last half was a whirl wind with my kid in town. Photos coming later.
It has been so hot, my whole mo-jo has been gone for a walk in the wilderness. Work focus is hard to come by. At home, I have no interest in being outside during 100 degree heat to weed and work on the yard, so it looks awful. The weeds are winning, so I just don't look.
I did get the hippo entered in the county fair. This...Hippo.
I've found that it seems I can only mange one spot of online presence at a time. Since beginning the Zombies Run 5k trainer, I've been updating facebook with lessons learned. And nothing else has been udpated.
6/13/13: Completed the first mission of the Zombies Run 5k trainer app this morning. Me and the dogs. —
6/15/13: Completed Zombie Run 5k mission 2 this morning. (June 15, 2013)
Reward... Maple Bacon doughnut from Beyond Glaze.
6/17/13: Task: Week one down in the Zombies Run 5k trainer. (7 weeks to go.)
Cost: $1.99 for app, sore feet, legs, and dogs that now expect to be walked.
On June 22, I started the lessons learned... here they are so far. I just finished week 4.
6.
Going with dogs is a good training for zombie apocalypse. You have to
aware of everything around us so the dogs don't go after anything. And
if anything comes after us, we run as if being chased by zombies.
9.
Coupling dogs together so they pull against each other instead of me,
does not work. They wised up and worked together! Result, more work and
less focus on the running/walking. Back to separate halters/leashes.
14. Two dogs, two leashes, one dog on left, one dog on right. All three of us might get trained yet.
19. The same head movement to look for zombies out of the corner of you eye, is the same head movement to look for cars. Really, I'm just keeping an eye out for cars...even when I'm on the sidewalk, and looking toward a bush.
20. Mysterious happenings, how'd the dog know? This morning Scrappy about 4 blocks into the workout, ahem, 'dropped her load', for me to package. The storyline today was to go out and get a package to bring back to base. Thanks Scrappy, but I don't your help making the story any more real. >:-/
21:
22: If runs begin to be referred to by how many dog baggies I bring back with me, i.e. Sunday was an 8 doggie bag day, then the dog with the slot-machine-esque bum will no longer go on Zombie missions.
23: Running without dogs lets me run in great form. Pro.
24: Great form means I can walk/run longer and faster. Pro.
25: Because I THINK my form is better I walk/run faster and longer and end up with injuries. Con.
26: Without dogs I feel like I really have to pay attention to what and who is around me. Con.
27: Having daughter, Kristen & grandsons in town really buggars up my training schedule.
19. All over again, because I was looking for cars! Not that herd of zombies I led away so they could rescue runner 6!
28. Stop, scoop, and bag the doggie presents is great practice for stop, scoop, and bag needed items during a zombie apocalypse.
There now I feel like I've got something done... a blog post. :)

feeling warm.

6/17/13: Task: Week one down in the Zombies Run 5k trainer. (7 weeks to go.)
Cost: $1.99 for app, sore feet, legs, and dogs that now expect to be walked.
Task: Clean up after dogs while doing said 5k trainer
Cost: 4 cents for 4 doggie poo bags (ewww), and almost getting caught by a rambling zombie.
Lessons learned in the last week: A real zombie apocalypse wouldn't
require cleaning up after the dogs. And a reward of a maple bacon
doughnut is probably not a good habit to begin, so the scale tells me.
On June 22, I started the lessons learned... here they are so far. I just finished week 4.
Lessons learned:
1. Zombie apocalypse benefit, don't have to clean up after dogs. Until
then must clean up after dogs and wish other people who don't, would.
2. 30 seconds feels much longer than twice the time of 15 seconds when running.
3. Walking and running with dogs who want to run all the time screw with your gait.
4. Dogs scaring up a couple of mourning doves cause the same style of running as when being chased by zombies.
5. Finally a purpose for facebook now I don't have to have an account
to monitor my kids because they're adults. Posting this journey
encourages me to continue it. Posting is for me, please remove me from
your notifications if you don't want to join me on this journey. I'll
keep posting lessons learned. ;o)

Going with dogs is a good training for zombie apocalypse. You have to
aware of everything around us so the dogs don't go after anything. And
if anything comes after us, we run as if being chased by zombies.
7. Holding both leashes in one hand helps keep gait more natural.
8. I'm older, out of shape, and crazy to do this. I am not so crazy
to push on and risk injury or burnout. Going to repeat week 2 training
to avoid injury and increase endurance.
9.
Coupling dogs together so they pull against each other instead of me,
does not work. They wised up and worked together! Result, more work and
less focus on the running/walking. Back to separate halters/leashes.
10. Motivation to run/walk is severely diminished when carrying 2 poop
bags and being pulled on by dogs who want to run like they are being chased by zombies.
11. Lesson 10 reinforces the advantage of the zombie apocalypse learned in lesson 1.
12. Stretching a tight muscle in the middle of the workout, noooo good.
13. Icy Hot is my friend
14. Two dogs, two leashes, one dog on left, one dog on right. All three of us might get trained yet.
15. Running in the heat is hard! And, well, HOT!
16. Getting lapped by a dude that runs like a deer, after he has ran 7 miles makes me feel like a Clydesdale horse.
17. Pirates of the Caribbean, Curse of the Black Pearl and Sherlock Holmes soundtracks are spot on for pace and dramatic effect.
18. One is not encouraged to keep training when the music crests and instead of feeling like the triumphant runner who out ran the zombie, you feel like the music is for the zombie's triumphant catch of its prey.19. The same head movement to look for zombies out of the corner of you eye, is the same head movement to look for cars. Really, I'm just keeping an eye out for cars...even when I'm on the sidewalk, and looking toward a bush.
